Flux Education Units (FEUs) are Symetrec's continuing education currency. One hour of qualifying activity equals one FEU. Earn enough FEUs before your renewal date and your credential stays active -- and your skills stay current.
FEU renewal is free. An active $10/year Symetrec membership is required to submit FEUs and renew your credential. Membership begins on Flux-1 issuance; first charge is one year later, recurring annually until demotion to Flux-0. Non-members and delinquent members cannot submit FEUs -- without renewal, the credential expires.

The FEU system is designed to reward genuine professional development -- not checkbox compliance. Every hour you spend growing your human-AI capability counts. Completing a microcredential, attending a Symetrec event, contributing to the community, or earning a higher Flux tier certification all qualify.
Simple math
1 hour of qualifying activity = 1 FEU. No complex conversion formulas. No ambiguous categories. If it took you an hour and it made you better, it probably counts.

FEUs earned through Symetrec activities -- microcredentials, events, and platform contributions -- are logged automatically. External activities can be self-reported.

Earning a new Flux tier certification automatically renews all lower-tier credentials -- no FEU submission required. Microcredentials never expire and do not require renewal.

Complete microcredentials
Every Symetrec microcredential completion earns FEUs equal to its duration. A 4-hour microcredential earns 4 FEUs, credited automatically to your account upon completion.

Symetrec Gatherings, webinars, and approved community events each earn FEUs equal to the event duration. Virtual and in-person events both qualify. FEUs are credited automatically upon verified attendance.

Publishing verified case studies on your Flux credential application, mentoring other candidates through the certification process, and volunteering at Symetrec events all qualify for FEU credit. Submit contributions through your dashboard for review.

Passing a higher-tier Flux Challenge automatically renews all lower credentials -- no FEU submission required. This is the most powerful renewal path: grow your capability and your credentials renew themselves.

FEUs can also be earned through qualifying activities outside of Symetrec -- relevant courses, conferences, publications, and professional contributions. Self-reported FEUs are subject to Symetrec review before being credited. The standard is simple: did it make you meaningfully better at operating as a human-AI professional?
External education
Relevant courses, certifications, and training programs from other providers. Must be directly applicable to human-AI professional practice. Up to 4 FEUs per renewal cycle from external education.
Publications and research
Articles, papers, and research on human-AI professional practice, AI in the workplace, or related topics. Published in recognized outlets. Up to 4 FEUs per publication.
Speaking and teaching
Conference presentations, workshops, and teaching engagements on relevant topics. Up to 4 FEUs per engagement.
